About six months ago my old computer "died" and
I had to purchase a new one. Unfortunately, the new computer (with
all the
latest technology) did not accept my Encore 4.2 program. I have been
an Encore user for over 10 years and had upgraded with each new edition.
I emailed GVOX and inquired as to whether there was a new version
of Encore which would satisfy the needs of my new computer. Your
representative (Howard) assured me that there was, and in a matter
of days I was (once again) doing my composing and arranging on my
new Encore 4.5.3.
As a published Composer and Author (who is not really a "Tech" person,)
I totally rely on the simplicity of use and the variety of easy steps
Encore offers me from the initial "Lead Sheet" to my final "Band
Chart." So far, I have not found a notation or musical nuance
that Encore doesn't afford me to express.
I would also like to take
a moment to thank your staff (especially Howard) who work "on
line" and in the e-mail department.
They were all most helpful, patient, knowledgeable and very courteous
seeing me through the entire process from the information stage,
to the purchase and finally . . . the installation of my new Encore
program.
Keep up the good work!

I can't tell you how happy I am after finally receiving
my Encore upgrade. Like others I read about, I, too, tried PrintMusic,
which
I understood was a watered down version of Finale, and there is
no comparison. Encore is so logical and easy to master, but very
comprehensive
in constructing music for any kind of musical situation. I have
developed a routine where I structure the systems with 1 stave
per system,
1 system per page, and 1 measure per system. Then I go to Page
Setup and increase the size to 400%. This generates each measure
large
enough for me to cut and paste the printouts so that I can construct
a large chart to hang on my board. This way the children are able
to see the song (I was teaching recorders at the time) from where
they were sitting. This allowed me to use a laser pointer and the
children followed the red dot and as a result began to learn the
notes and learned how to focus. I remember years ago that I used
to pass out printouts to the children and they laid them on the
floor to read. I wasn't sure what they were looking at with that
arrangement.
So, this way I,m certain they are looking at the right thing. Again,
thank you for providing the product that is a very essential part
of my daily teaching routine.

Thanks for a great program, it's
a blast to use, and really simple to show my kids. They pick
up on it in a flash. Some of my friends
in the business use Finale...I tell them I don't have the time
to wade thru that program...Encore is so much quicker !!

I'd also really encourage your team to publicize Encore as much
as possible. It is far better than any other software out
there including Sibelius, Finale or Cubase (for which I'm licensed
and which I use for non-classical compositions/performances/mixing).
I write classical music on an Encore score, note by note with
the mouse. The only way this is possible is to have a well thought-out
mouse/keyboard data entry combination. All other programs were
originally geared for non-classical improvisation, or are simply
poorly thought
out. In addition, Encore has far more score layout flexibility
than most people realize.

I've owned a copy of MusicTime
since before it was a GVOX product. When I bought a new computer
in '98 I discovered Passport
was gone, but a web search produced GVOX, so I upgraded. Couldn't
afford Finale (and I don't need it), and I LOVED the fixes and
additions of MusicTime Deluxe. Have used Sibelius at school with
my kids' music
teachers' classes. As long as you have music in front of you, Sibelius
is easy to edit, but my problem is usually getting a favorite tune
in front of a musician in the right key. My $149 Yamaha keyboard
and MOTU Fastlane MIDI input work GREAT for getting music on a
page with MTD. I usually use my iBook 'cuz there's not enuf room
near
my desktop for the keyboard.

I have always believed in
giving a second chance to those who are willing to take ownership
of past issues and rectify the
lack of customer service. In my opinion, GVOX has given much more
credibility to my belief. I decided to give them a second chance
after I could not get upgrades six months ago. Their customer service
team went above and beyond the call to get me the products in a
timely manner, AND ENSURE I received what I needed. The letter
from the
president said that GVOX has turned a corner. My experience shows
this is an understatement. No previous support team with the Encore
and Mastertracks products has come close to being as responsive.
I am happy to be a continuing GVOX customer.

After the disappointment
of hearing about the troubles your company was experiencing at
that time, I was very pleased with
the prompt and courteous personal service I received from Howard
and
Nathaniel Weiss when I contacted them regarding this matter last
month.
I wish GVOX continued success in the future and I will continue
to recommend your products to parents, friends and fellow teachers! Bill H.
I am an Encore user for several
years. I bought the software in Singapore through a friend of mine.
FYI, recently I won the
national competition in Indonesia for song composition including
harmony part
(SATB) for Church Choir. The song, called: "Haleluya," will
be used as an obligatory song for all Indonesian Christian Choir
competition that will involve 30 provinces altogether in September
2003. This success was due to the intelligent assistance of the
Encore Notation Software--it is an extremely versatile "piece
of cake"!
Thanks to Encore.

I'm very happy to hear from a
person about my MusicTime upgrade and very excited about installing
it. In 1995, I purchased
my first
copy
of MusicTime. Today, 150 MusicTime charts are part of my working
routine. In addition to being able to work on existing charts,
there are numerous new features that are really neat. For instance,
when
typing lyrics, the old version required hitting the 'tab' key to
move from syllable to syllable. In the upgrade, hitting the space
bar moves the cursor between syllables. Neat. I haven't mastered
the color feature yet but WOW I've played with it just enough to
know how to access it. My test chart uses red for a second verse
in the same melody line with the first ending. Another nice improvement
is being able to drag up the size of the ending bars. Count me
among the MusicTime cheerleaders.

I have used MusicTime for composing
and scoring ever since it first came out, on floppy. It's always
been my
choice over higher-tech
programs like Finale, simply because of its simplicity of use,
and its great features! With the new updates since 3.5.5 came about,
it's gotten even better! Finale now sits on a corner of my desktop,
used very rarely, and even then, I input the basic midi file originally
created in - you guessed it - Music Time! But the real story here
is the customer service! Whereas other sites will have you wait
a
few days before getting back to you, these guys at GVOX have been
answering most of my emails within the hour!

Encyclopeadia of Jazz Theory for all Musicians" which is curently
in print by Hal Leonard. It's COOL COOL COOL!

I have been using Encore since the Dos version in the late eighties, but never updated beyond the version I had in the late nineties. As the years went by and both operating systems and software versions advanced, the day came when I finally got a new computer with XP. Finding the software would no longer work, I started to look around for an upgrade. After locating GVOX as the outlet for Encore, I noticed a rude remark posted about their service, so it was with some trepidation I approached them for the upgrade. I was immediately given an upgrade with zero quibbling about the age of my previous version, and plenty of useful advice. I can't imagine why anyone could have found problems with their customer service people. I am now happily scoring once again. Many thanks.

I didn't realize that Encore would read all my old MusicTime files; I have been delaying purchasing a more powerful program for that reason. I have typed in over 750 tunes into MusicTime and although it has been very good, it has some
limitations for me. I decided to purchase the upgrade to Encore and it arrived in the mail a week ago. It is wonderful! I feel I have only scratched the surface of what it is capable of. It fixes any of the problems I had with MusicTime. And it works with my new Mac computer with OS X.

Frankly, I thought Encore was doomed when Passport's telephone and website went off line. Panic was a mildword to describe how I felt. I love this program!!! It thinks like a working musician, arranger, composer....
Thank you a million times over for continuing this productline. I recommend Encore to musicians all the time. It's bullet-proof!
And for the record...........
I own the F word (Finale). It has given new meaning to the word "adversarial "! Never finished one song with it.
Thanks again for producing Encore!!!! I am forever greatful!

Thanks for all of your help w/ the new encore. I'm making music again and enjoying it. I'm a 75 year old guy with an 8 piece band that I write all of the music for, I have generated over 150 charts for the band, I also write for large jazz ensembles.
Thanks again,

Fifteen years ago I began composition with the old Rhapsody program from Gvox. I graduated to Encore in 1994 and since to a newer version. Having composed fifteen symphonies, chamber music and 12 piano sonatas with Encore my performances by the London Symphony & Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestras attest to the exceptional adequacy of the Encore program. Having tried other programs, I know of no other that comes close to the brilliant Encore options and ease of creativity. If you are contemplating software, download the Encore demo sample and you will see how easy it is to use for your composition.
