It’s an ornament and while I have never seen this combo, the three dots are a relish (short trill with an end/tail) and the fountain spring is sort of like a Couperin-type mordent, but may be just a decoration. Best guess is that it’s a doodle around the relish… Ketchup, anyone? Thanks for the brain teaser!!!
