Measure overloading

Postby q » Mon Mar 30, 2009 10:28 pm

Encore allows 'measure overloading' or 'overfilling.' This allows us to enter notes beyond the amount technically allowed by the meter. This very handy feature works wonders during editing session—once my edit is complete, I delete unnecessary notes and return to metric normality.

The only way I know to accomplish overloading it by drag-copying a note.

It would also be nice to have a way to click enter 'overloading' notes (perhaps by click entering notes with a modifier key.) Then we could enter any note rather than relying on clones of adjacent notes, which often need subsequent pitch adjustment.

P.S. Matt, do you think there would be a way with a MIDI keyboard?

Another thought about overloading.

It would be nice if Encore would flag overloaded measures. Not necessarily all the time, but perhaps on request as an proofing feature.

Thanks Matt,

I was unaware of that. And we have a keystroke for toggle auto-space: Command-Shift-a on the Mac.

That's pretty good then! (Hope I don't forget. Perhaps that's exactly why I made the request ...)
